Megan and Keegan come up short in cover competition.

In 2020, for their annual Young Creatives Cover Competition, Ad Age tasked creatives under 30 with designing a cover that “celebrates how creativity continues to shine and empower in what feels like one of our darkest moments.” Working with copywriter Megan Williamson, we answered the brief from three different angles. And while we didn’t win, one of our designs made the list of runner ups, earning a featured blurb in the Creativity Issue.

The Runner Up

The Creative’s Lens

At its core, creativity is optimism—seeing not just what is, but what could be. So no matter how dark the world gets, looking at it through a creative lens will always reveal a brighter future.

The Losers

Better Luck Next Time

These designs didn’t win, and in hindsight, we kinda see why. One is too abstract to make sense without further explanation, and the other straight-up didn’t answer the brief at all. Oh well. We had fun making them.
